The City of Marion has issued a boil water advisory for Marion water customers.

Marion City Administrator Adam Ledford said residents should use bottled water for cooking and drinking until further notice.

According to Ledford, the advisory was issued due to the high temperatures and because of the ongoing conservation efforts.

The high temperatures have made it difficult for the city's water system to maintain safe chlorine levels. Conservation efforts by residents have also reduced water flow through the pipelines, reducine the chlorine levels on the fringe of the network.

Ledford said the advisory reinforces the importance of the city's bottled water distribution effort.
