The Kentucky State Police have issued an update on the investigation into an officer-involved shooting in Calloway County.
The incident occurred on February 24th as deputies from the Calloway County Sheriff's Office and Murray Police were called to Knight Road for a reported domestic situation.
The report said that the deputies and officers pursued a male who was trying to flee the scene as they arrived. The man, identified as 28-year-old Erin Williamson of Murray, allegedly turned and rushed toward them with a weapon.
The officers reportedly used verbal commands to try and get Williamson to stop, before using other methods. Investigators said when those attempts did not work, Calloway County Deputy Todd Clere fired his department-issued weapon and struck Williamson.
KSP said that Deputy Clere has been with the Calloway County Sheriff's Office for six years. Detectives with Post 1 are continuing the investigation.

Kentucky State Police investigating an officer-involved shooting in Calloway County
Kentucky State Police have confirmed to West Kentucky Star that they are investigating an officer-involved shooting east of Murray in Calloway County.
KSP said that the Calloway County Sheriff's Office requested them to investigate the shooting which took place just before 1 a.m. Friday.
Sources said that Calloway County Sheriff's deputies had responded to a domestic situation. Our source indicated that a man was shot after charging at a deputy.
A male was transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital and was pronounced dead by the Calloway County Coroner.
There were no other injuries to citizens or law enforcement.
