Kentucky State Police continue murder investigation in Marshall County

The investigation into the murder of Lia Thompson is continuing, according to Kentucky State Police.

Detectives indicated on Sunday that they believe Thompson was targeted, meaning that there is no ongoing danger to the community. However, KSP said it did serve as a reminder to lock your doors and be careful with online interactions and with who comes into your home.

They also cautioned against sharing personal or financial details online. 

Benton Police called in Kentucky State Police investigators after the body of 49-year-old Thompson was found in her Benton home. The preliminary report said that Thompson was found just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday and that her injuries pointed toward foul play.
