The Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training has provided an update on their new training facility in Richmond that will be named in honor of Calloway County Chief Deputy Jody Cash.

Officials said that construction has passed the halfway point.Steel trusses have been set for the 50-yard, 30-lane firing range. They expect roof decking to begin this week. Masonry wall construction is almost complete, with brick masonry to start soon after. Grading work on the roundabout entry point is underway, as well.

Members of the Cash family, state and local officials, and staff from the Department of Criminal Justice Training joined Governor Andy Beshear to break ground on the facility in July of 2023.

The new center will support training for all of Kentucky's law enforcement agencies, aside from Bowling Green, Lexington, and Louisville Metro police departments, and state police, which have their own independent academies.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2025.
