An Illinois pair were charged with a Metropolis theft on Saturday.

Metropolis Police were called to the Smith Auction and Thrift store on West 10th Street. Upon arrival officers met with the caller who gave a description of a vehicle that had stolen items from the side of the building that were for sale. 

An officer located the vehicle which had its tailgate open and said the items matching the description of the stolen items could be seen. 

A traffic stop was initiated and 34-year-old James D. Hall of Newton, IL and 40-year-old Mareen D. Reynolds of Joppa, IL were charged with theft.
