An Illinois pair is facing charges after a woman tried to help a man escape police.

Metropolis police spotted 36-year-old Adam V. Burnham of Grantsburg coming out of a home on Catherine Street and getting into a van. Officers knew Burnham was wanted on a failure to appear warrant after allegedly being caught with a stolen vehicle.

When police approached, Burnham took off on foot and was able to get away.

Police spoke with the driver of the van, 29-year-old Kelsey Littlemeyer of Metropolis, and after letting her know that Burnham was wanted she told them she didn't know where he had gone.

As the search continued, police watched Burnham get into Littlemeyer's van. They also saw the van drive through several yards along 8th Street. Officers stopped the van and arrested Burnham on the warrant and an additional resisting arrest charge.

Littlemeyer was released on a notice to appear after being charged with concealing or aiding a fugitive.
