The National Weather Service continues a flash flood watch through this evening or late tonight.
Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible in southeast Missouri until 7 p.m., and portions of southern Illinois and western Kentucky until 10 p.m.
Numerous slow-moving thunderstorms developed earlier, and could form again through the day.
Where heavy rains occur, excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood prone locations.
Flooding may occur in urban areas with poor drainage.
On Wednesday evening, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible. Damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes are the main threats.
The hottest temperatures of the season are expected this weekend. Heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are forecast, and there will be an elevated risk of heat-related health impacts.
