Illinois couple charged in death of 1-year-old daughter

An Illinois couple has been charged in the death of their 1-year-old daughter.

Illinois State Police was called in on the case by DuQuoin Police after a child died on Monday. The child reportedly suffered what were described as severe burns, but was not taken to a hospital. ISP investigators arrested the parents, Amanda and Michael Russell, at their West Park Street home.

After presenting the case to the State’s Attorney’s Office in Perry County, the pair were charged with endangering the life or health of a child and involuntary manslaughter. The mother was also charged with solicitation to obstruct justice.
