A Hazel woman is facing several charges after she reportedly turned a pit bull loose when police were at her home on Wednesday.
Calloway County Sheriff's deputies went to a home on Gilbert Street to serve court papers. The deputies said they found two women at the home and reportedly spotted what looked to be illegal drugs. The women were instructed to sit on the home's porch while they obtained a search warrant, but they said the women refused and resisted.
One of the women, 53-year-old Camie Wetter, allegedly opened the door and turned a pit bull loose on the deputies. The dog bit one of the deputies on the leg. The deputies detained the women.
Wetter was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, harboring a vicious animal, and endangering the welfare of a minor. She also faces charges of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of marijuana
.
The other woman was cited for misdemeanors and was left to take care of the child that was present.
