Graves County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Mayfield pair after one suspect fled.

Monday night at about 9 p.m., deputies tried to locate and arrest 33-year-old Zachary D. Cross on a series of outstanding warrants. Cross had been charged with strangulation, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and terroristic threatening. When deputies got to the South 5th Street home, Cross ran and was able to get away.

Deputies and Mayfield Police returned to the home about an hour later and were told several times by 37-year-old Katherin Harris that Cross was not there. Deputies said they believed that Harris was lying to them to protect Harris. They searched the house and found Cross hiding in a bathroom under a pile of clothes.  Cross was arrested and so was Harris.

Cross was charged with the warrants, as well as alcoholic intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, and fleeing or evading police. Harris was charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension. Both were taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center.
