Graves County woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A Graves County woman is dead after a Tuesday morning traffic accident.

The Graves County Sheriff's Department said the crash occured just before 6 am in the 2000 block of KY 408.  Investigators found a van had left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

The passenger in the van, 22-year-old Raye A. Jones of Graves County, was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver, 30-year-old  Sherrod Shelton also of Graves County, was found with severe injuries in the middle of the roadway.  He was taken to an out of state hospital.

The sheriff's department posted that there was also preliminary evidence of a domestic disturbance that occurred inside the vehicle immediately prior to the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
