The 3rd District championship games between Mayfield and Graves County were postponed on Thursday due to security concerns.
Mayfield Independent Schools released a statement Thursday night that said the school district had been made aware "of a potential safety concern" related to the district tournament games that were to take place Thursday at Mayfield High School. The statement said that out of an abundance of caution, they decided to postpone the games.
A statement from Graves County Schools said the situation had been resolved with the help of law enforcement.
Both games will now take place on Friday night with added security.
The girls championship between #2 seed Mayfield and #1 seed Graves County will tip at 6 p.m., while the boys championship between #2 seed Graves County and #1 seed Mayfield will tip about 7:30 p.m. or 20 minutes following the girls game.
The games will be broadcast on WiLLiE 102.1 and willieradio.com
