Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden took to social media on Friday to praise the efforts of two people for helping a lost elderly woman.

Sheriff Hayden said his office received a call Friday afternoon from Shane Wade, a mail carrier, about an elderly woman who was lost and scared. The woman lives in Graves County and was near the Pilot Oak community at the time, but had reportedly got lost and had driven around for miles until she was almost out of gas and unfamiliar with the area.

In trying to determine how to get her some gas in order to get her home, the Sheriff's Office called Lowry Farms in Pilot Oak and said Keith Lowry told them to bring her to his shop. Once there Lowry provided her with gas so deputies could get her back home near Wingo.

Sheriff Hayden said this many not sound like a big deal to some, but meant a lot to them and this woman.

Hayden added; "it means a lot to us at the sheriff's office to know that we have folks all over this county that are ready to step up and help us help others that we often times find in some sort of need. We appreciate that."
