Former Trigg County teacher charged with sexual abuse

A former Trigg County teacher was arrested Wednesday on a charge of sexual abuse stemming from an alleged 2016 incident.

Kentucky State Police Post 1 said they opened an investigation in January of this year into allegations of sexual contact between former Trigg County teacher 34-year-old Ashley Wells and a student. They said the investigation revealed that she had sexual contact with a 17-year-old student in Christian County in 2016.

On April 29, a Christian County grand jury returned an indictment for sexual abuse first degree.
