The Fiscal Year 2024 Paducah city budget was introduced at Tuesday's board of commissioners meeting.

According to the budget ordinance, $99.2 million is the total amount when all is considered and funded. Included in the budget are 6% increases in salary for all union and non-union full-time city employees, and a 30% increase in street rehabilitation funds.

The budget covers all of the city's obligations and shortfalls. When passed, it would take effect on July 1st.

The board also introduced an ordinance that will reactivate the city's human rights commission. The measure will increase the size of the board from five to seven members. They hope to be interviewing potential board members in July.

Mayor George Bray took time during his remarks to note that the city and county are honoring the interlocal agreement where they will each provide $3 million for the new terminal at Barkley Regional Airport. He noted that he hoped all the funds would not be needed and that the project would come in under budget.

City Manager Daron Jordan told the board that an estimated 20,000 people took part in the Yeiser Art Center's Lower Town Arts and Music Festival. The city provided in-kind and financial support to the festival of around $20,000.
