There's only one month left for renters and homeowners who suffered damage during the severe storms that moved across portions of Kentucky near the end of May to apply for FEMA aid.

The assistance, which is designed to help take care of basic needs not cover all losses, can help with temporary housing, help pay for disaster damage, and cover medical expenses among other things. FEMA said on Thursday that September 22nd, 2024 will be the last day to apply. Eligible residents in western Kentucky include Caldwell, Calloway, Christian, Hopkins, Logan, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg Counties.

Meanwhile, the FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Calloway and Trigg counties will cease operations on Saturday.

The centers on Fairground Road in Murray, and on Jefferson Street in Cadiz are still open this week from 10 a.m. til 7 p.m., then will close Saturday at 5 p.m.

The recovery center in Caldwell County in Princeton will remain open for the time being.
