A heat advisory is in effect Monday, and September will start with an extreme heat watch in effect Tuesday through Friday for the entire Quad State area, due to a prolonged heatwave.
Humidity values will be a bit lower than the last heat wave, but the actual temperatures will tend to be a bit higher than last time.
Temperatures will be in the upper 90s to around 100 with heat index values approaching 105 degrees. Even as late as next weekend, highs are still expected to be in the mid 90s.
Overnight lows will only drop into the mid to upper 70s, bringing little overnight relief. In fact, many of the warmest overnight low temperature records could be broken across the area this week.
No meaningful precipitation is forecast through all of next week.
