An Eddyville man under a pre-trial diversion agreement will face new charges after authorities said he caused problems at the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said 50-year-old Joe P. Stinnett visited the sheriff's office on Thursday to inquire about an impounded vehicle, although he was apparently mailed a letter explaining the proper procedures for claiming the vehicle.
Stinnett reportedly became upset over the requirements and was asked to leave the office. Rather than leave, deputies claim he raised his voice and began cursing at staff.
The incident ended with Stinnett facing a disorderly conduct charge.
The sheriff's office said it was later determined that Stinnett was under the influence of meth and other substances at the time of the incident. Deputies noted he was under the supervision of Probation and Parole at the time of his most recent arrest for a past meth-related conviction.
He was taken to the Crittenden County Jail.
