The heightened danger for fires will continue on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Lack of rainfall has allowed vegetation to become very dry. Combined with humidity of less than 30 per cent is helping to make it easy for a fire to spread quickly.
Officials urge you not to burn outdoors and properly dispose of cigarettes.
Even a spark from a car's exhaust pipe or a trailer chain dragging on pavement can cause enough of a spark to ignite dry vegetation.
No relief from rain is expected until late Saturday night or Sunday.
