Dawson Springs Independent Schools were placed under a lockdown for a short time on Tuesday morning after a fugitive was reported to be on campus.
During the lockdown, no one was allowed to leave or enter the school, while regular instruction continued.
Dawson Springs superintendent Leonard Whalen later reported on the school Facebook page that an individual was on campus who the Dawson Springs Police Department was looking for. He said the School Resource Officer attempted to detain the individual without success.
Whalen said police apprehended the fugitive at 11:39 a.m. and the schools were given the all-clear.
The superintendent said that no threats were made toward the school or any student.
