WEDNESDAY: A second straight record low was set in Paducah this morning when the temperature at Barkley Field fell to 49 degrees at 6 a.m.
That broke the 80-year-old mark of 52 set in 1945.
TUESDAY:
Most of the region ventured into record cool territory on Tuesday morning.
Paducah fell to 49 degrees and smashed the previous record for the date of 52 set in 2015.
Cape Girardeau's 49 also broke their previous low set in 2015 of 51.
In Carbondale, they tied their record of 45 which hadn't been seen since 1910.
This was not the earliest date of the year that Paducah has fallen into the 40s after summer. In 2004, on August 13-16, Paducah saw morning lows of 48, 46, 49 and 48.
Looking ahead, Wednesday's record morning low is also 52, set 80 years ago in 1945.
The rest of the week looks to see lows rebound closer to 60 degrees each morning.
