Child hospitalized after being shot in Hopkinsville

A child was hospitalized after being shot Monday night in Hopkinsville.

WKDZ reported that Hopkinsville Police were called to East 9th Street around 8:25 pm after receiving a report a very young child had a gunshot wound to the head.

The child was first taken to Jennie Stuart Health then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

Police said their preliminary investigation leads them to believe it was an accidental shooting.
