The Cave-in-Rock Ferry will be back up and running this weekend with a return to seven-day-a-week operations.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said that a tentative arrangement has been reached with the Ohio River Ferry Authority to help the ferry operator as they deal with staffing issues.
Beginning this weekend, the ferry will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Normal hours, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., will continue from Monday through Friday.
Crittenden County Judge-Executive Perry Newcom announced the deal, which will remain in place until the ferry operator can fill several job vacancies, including a licensed riverboat pilot with passenger endorsement.
The ferry carries about 300 vehicles per day at no cost to travelers.
