A crash in Carlisle County on Sunday claimed the life of a 4-year-old child and injured two adults.
Kentucky State Police said the crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. along US 62 near KY 307. A trooper and Carlisle County Sheriff's deputies arrived and found that two SUVs, one driven by 35-year-old Lucas E. Shehorn of Bardwell and the other driven by 55-year-old Michelle Chapman of Paducah, had collided.
The juvenile passenger in Shehorn's vehicle was taken to a local hospital before being flown out of state for treatment. The child passed away from her injuries.
Shehorn was also flown to an out-of-state hospital. Chapman was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
The Carlisle County Sheriff's Office asked the KSP Collision Reconstruction Team to investigate the crash. Troopers said that the vehicles were damaged so severely that they could not immediately determine if seatbelts and restraints were properly used. The crash is still under investigation.
