The Woodlands Nature Station has announced a campaign to pick names for its four American red wolf pups.

The Facebook campaign consists of five staff picked themes that each include four names. The public is asked to vote for a theme by 'reacting' to the post.

Themes include LBL Places, with names such as Trace, Piney, Ginger, and Sugar; Shapes, including Arrow, Dash, Star, and Dot; Red Color, with Rufus, Copper, Madder, and Coral; Butterflies, which includes Buck, Admiral, Pearl, and Juniper; and Trees, with names Ash, Tupelo, Hazel, and Holly.

Voting will take place until Sunday, August 7. Facebook users are also encouraged to comment their favorite themes and names. However, only post reactions will be counted.

The facility welcomed the unexpected litter on April 26. Red Wolves are now the most endangered canine globally, and are only found in captivity and eastern North Carolina.

The nature station is home to the only captive breeding pair in Kentucky. The Nature Station has been involved with the Red Wolf Recovery program since 1991.
