More than 35 people attended a public information meeting Tuesday on planned improvements along US 62 in Calvert City.
The meeting offered the public a chance to provide input on several alternates being considered by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers as they prepare for final design work.
The project runs from the intersection of US 62 and Main Street in Calvert City, east to Lone Valley Road, a distance of 1.3 miles. It includes intersections with several other streets and roads.
About 6,000 vehicles travel this section of US 62 daily, with about a thousand of them trucks.
The project includes an improved center turn lane to provide safer access to businesses. There are four options for combining the intersection of Lone Valley Road and Kennedy Avenue to enhance safety. The project would also enhance pedestrian access from Calvert City to the multi-use trail that runs through the I-24 Exit 27 Interchange to Kentucky Dam Village State Park.
Anyone who was unable to attend the meeting can access the project displays at the KYTC office at 5501 KY Dam Road in Paducah from 7 a.m., to 3:30 p.m. until March 10. Comments also may be submitted by mail before that date to the attention of Chris Kuntz, Branch Manager Project Development.
