A Calloway County High School student was removed from campus Friday after authorities said they found a shotgun and ammunition in the student's truck.
According to a post from the school district, Calloway County Schools Superintendent Tres Settle said a parent dropping a student off at the high school reported seeing a possible weapon in a student's vehicle.
Authorities responded and identified what was described as a “splat-gun” visible in the vehicle. Before searching the vehicle the student reportedly told officials there was a shotgun and hunting ammunition under the seat of the truck.
Those items were secured by law enforcement and the student removed from campus.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning school officials at Calloway County High School were alerted by a parent dropping off a student of the possible sighting of a weapon in a student vehicle. School officials and law enforcement reacted immediately and identified a “splat-gun” visible in the vehicle. Prior to the interior search of the vehicle, the student informed officials that there was a shotgun and hunting ammunition/equipment under the seat of the truck. Those items were immediately secured by law enforcement and the student was removed from campus.
