Caldwell County Sheriff looking for suspect in Sunday shooting

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect in Sunday shooting north of Princeton.

Deputies responded to Old Wilson Warehouse Road just before 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of shots being fired. When they arrived, they found 47-year-old Colby Phillips with a gunshot wound. An AirEvac helicopter was called in to fly Phillips to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville to be treated.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jerald Swetland of Princeton. A warrant for Swetland was issued, but he has not yet been apprehended. Anyone with information about Swetland’s location is asked to contact the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at 270-365-2088.
