Brookport Bridge back open after being closed by ice

The Brookport Bridge reopened on Thursday afternoon after sunshine and warming temperatures helped break up ice on the bridge deck.

The bridge had been closed since Monday afternoon due to the icy conditions.

The reopening was also delayed by a large ice field that had developed on the US 45 approach on the Kentucky side, including the elevated curve that made it especially difficult to maneuver salt trucks to treat the ice.
