Brookport Bridge closed til further notice after crash damages guard rail

The US 45 Brookport Bridge is closed after damage to the bridge caused by a crash early Saturday morning.

The crash caused significant damage to a section of guard rail along the bridge deck.  It also bent a section of the bridge railing so it is extending into the roadway.  

The damage will have to be repaired before traffic can resume.

The bridge will remain closed to allow repairs to be completed. Some of the bridge railing may have to be fabricated, so the closure could be for an extended period.

KYTC bridge inspectors and engineers will evaluate the damage over the weekend to develop a repair plan.
