Governor Andy Beshear made stops in western Kentucky on Tuesday, speaking to the Kentucky Labor Management Conference and presenting funds to officials in Murray and Calloway County.

Beshear spoke to members of organized labor in stump-style remarks ahead of his appearance at the conference. Just outside the lodge at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Beshear lauded union members as the backbone of the Commonwealth and touted his accomplishments in economic development.

"Together, we're gonna do some really special things across this Commonwealth. This year we had our second best year in our history of economic development. Provided you help give me that next year after that..."

His statements were received with cheers from the group, even turning into cheers led by conference attendees.

Part of Beshear's appearance was to discuss work environments becoming more "recovery friendly" in conjunction with the Mobilize Recovery bus tour. Mobilize Recovery is a national campaign encouraging the employment of individuals in recovery.

Beshear moved on to Calloway County where he announced $1 million in funding for two infrastructure projects.

The City of Murray will receive $500,000 for a new fire station on 16th Street. The other $500,000 will go to the Dexter-Almo Heights Water District for an expansion project.
