Benton police address golf cart complaints

The Benton Police Department is addressing continued complaints about children driving golf carts recklessly.

The police department said the complaints revolve around children driving golf carts recklessly on the road, with several kids on each golf cart, and some hanging off the sides.

In addition, residents have even reported that some children are driving golf carts through people's yards and pulling out in front of vehicles.

The police department reminds the public that it is not legal to drive golf carts on the road within city limits for adults or children.

Officers said they fear the problem may worsen with summer break around the corner. In response, the police department will be making extra patrols in the affected areas.
