A wanted Benton man was arrested after fleeing from deputies during an attempted traffic stop Tuesday night.

Around 10:15pm the McCracken County Sheriff's Office said a deputy attempted a stop a vehicle for traffic violations around Yarbro Lane.  However, the driver, later identified as 42-year-old Clinton Borders, reportedly failed to yield and proceeded onto Hovekamp Road.

Deputies continued to try and stop Borders as he traveled towards Marshall County and deployed tire deflation devices in different locations. The vehicle struck one of the tire deflation devices and Broders continued driving.

Borders continued outbound on US-68 into Marshall County as the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was notified and responded.

Borders eventually turned into a subdivision just over the Marshall County line where his vehicle left the roadway into a residential yard, becoming inoperable as his tires lost air.

Authorities said Borders has a history of fleeing from law enforcement and illegal drug charges.

He was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, along with several traffic violations.
