Barkley Regional Airport issued a warning on Thursday after noting a rise in certain scams.
Officials said they've taken notice to an increase in puppy scams and catfishing locally.
Puppy scams involve the scam artist claiming they're selling a new pet online, then requesting payment from the victim to ship the pet by air. Barkley officials said pet shipping is not currently a service they offer.
With catfishing, the scammer will form a relationship with someone online, then trick the victim into sending them money under the belief that the scammer will buy an airline ticket to meet the victim.
The airport encouraged the public to visit the website for the Natioal Cybersecurity Alliance for resources to anyone questioning a transaction or relationship.
Officials additionally encouraged anyone that has fallen victim to a scam to contact local authorities.
