Western Kentucky workers will soon benefit from another manufacturing expansion in Christian County.

Toyota Boshoku America Inc. will invest $225 million to construct a new facility in Hopkinsville and create 157 jobs.

The new facility will include a 365,400-square-foot building pad on 49 acres. The plant will be the first TBA location globally to be considered a “Smart Plant,” and employ advanced robotics.

The Hopkinsville facility will be the company’s fifth location in the commonwealth. “Our company’s history in Kentucky started 35 years ago,” said Hidenori Ozaki, president and CEO at TBA.  The company currently operates production plants in Bardstown, Harrodsburg and Lebanon, along with American headquarters in Erlanger. Their total employment in the state will rise to 1,100 with the new plant.

Construction is expected to begin in June of this year and be completed in August 2024.

Toyota Boshoku Corp. is a manufacturer of automotive interior systems, which include seat, door trim, headliner, and carpet in addition to air and oil filters for customers such as Toyota, BMW and Subaru. I
