A seven-day drug investigation by the Calloway County Sheriff's Office led to the arrest of two men on trafficking charges.
The Calloway County Sheriff's said they were able to make undercover purchases of suspected counterfeit Oxycodone pills over seven days. The counterfeit pills reportedly contained fentanyl.
On Monday, with help from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Calloway County deputies carried out a search warrant at a home on Welch Drive in Murray. Two men, Joshua C. Evans and Robert A. Steele were in the home.
Deputies allegedly saw Evans trying to flush a large number of pills to destroy them. The pills were counterfeit pills containing fentanyl. Additional pills without a prescription, marijuana, trafficking materials, and a loaded firearm were also reportedly discovered in the home.
As a convicted felon, Evans is not legally allowed to possess a firearm. It was also discovered that Steele had three outstanding warrants out of Christian County.
Evans was charged with firearm-enhanced trafficking in fentanyl and marijuana, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Steele was served the warrants for felony parole violation.
