The National Weather Service in Paducah is happy to reveal a hint of good news for relief from what is hoped to be the final round of brutal heat this summer.
It finally looks like we will trend toward below normal temperatures starting next weekend into the next week.
The latest 6- to 10-day outlook from the National Weather Service pegs August 23-27 as bringing cooler temperatures from the upper Midwest down to the Ohio River valley.
The change comes just as Paducah's daily historical average high finally breaks below 90 to 89 by August 21 and 88 by the end of the month.
After that, it's a steady retreat in heat through September, ending the month with an average high of 78.
