Welding, construction skills put to the test at Signet Showdown

Students and local business pros put their welding and constructon skills to the test at this year's Signet Showdown held at WKCTC's Skilled Craft Training Center.

This year's champions were:

Welding (Business) - Wesley Henry – Progress Rail; Daniel Todd – XTek; Jeremy Steel – Progress Rail

Welding (Student)  - Caden Cobb; Jeoffry Jaggers; Salvador Coronado

Construction (Student)  - Matthew Wilson

The contestants competed for prizes provided by Airgas, AGC of Western Kentucky, and the PJC Foundation.

The event was also sponsored and supported by Progress Rail and K4 Architecture + Design. 

Lunch served by Upper Level Food Truck and Treats, run by WKCTC’s Electrical Technology Instructor Anthony Moss.

The next Signet Showdown will be held in 2027, and more technical categories are expected to be added to the competition. More local businesses are invited to participate in shaping the future workforce.
