Kentucky State Police Warn of New Scam
By West Kentucky Star Staff
WESTERN KENTUCKY - The Kentucky State Police are reporting a new scam showing up in the area that is targeting people on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry.

According to law enforcement, the scammers are identifying themselves as police officers, and inform registrants that they must immediately pay a fee for various reasons.

Allegedly victims are being told they must load money onto a prepaid card, then provide the card information to the scammer.

The Kentucky State Police are reminding everyone that law enforcement officers do not call and ask for payments over the phone. If someone calls to ask you for a payment, contact the KSP, local law enforcement, or the attorney general's office at 888-432-9257, or visit the link below.
