Strong storms still in sight for Friday night into Saturday

Warm days this week could brew up strong storms Friday night into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service office in Paducah.

Well above-normal temperatures will continue through the week. Low humidity will result in an elevated fire danger this afternoon, but that concern will ease on Wednesday.

Chances of showers and a few thunderstorms return Wednesday night into Thursday.

The first round of possible severe weather will impact southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and far western Kentucky late Friday into early Saturday morning. At this time, the severe thunderstorm potential will exist with a line of thunderstorms that will move from west to east, with the main threats being damaging gusts and tornadoes. 

The second round of storms look to impact parts of southwest Indiana and the Kentucky Pennyrile (north and east of the lakes) beginning mid morning Saturday into the mid afternoon hours. These storms will also have the potential to become severe, with damaging wind, tornadoes, and large hail all possible. 

Additionally, gusty winds of 30-40 mph from the south to southwest are expected Friday afternoon into Friday night. Flooding concerns look low, but most areas have a fair to good chance of seeing 0.50" or more Friday through Saturday. 

There is some potential for a few light showers Sunday. Northwest winds Sunday which will lead to cooler temperatures close to normal levels in the 50s.
