The National Weather Service in Paducah reported that the temperature soared to a record-shattering 95 degrees in Van Buren, Missouri (Carter County) on Saturday.

The data is considered preliminary, but if verified it would break the record for the warmest temperature on record for any day in March in the Paducah office's 58-county forecast area.

The previous record was 94 degrees, set in Harrisburg, IL, on March 24, 1929.

Meanwhile, Paducah tied their all-time March record of 85 degrees on Saturday. This ties the monthly record of 85 set on March 13, 1967. It also broke the high for the date of 80, set in 2012.

Daily record high temperatures were also set in Poplar Bluff and Carbondale.

On Sunday, Paducah's high of 87 degrees broke the old mark of 84 set for the date in 1938.
