LONE OAK, KY - A Wednesday car crash, reportedly caused by a cell phone distraction, led to injury for a McCracken County woman.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to an accident on Lone Oak Road between the North and South Friendship intersection and John E. Robinson Drive at around 6 pm. The police report states that 55-year old Donna McGrew, of Paducah was traveling south on Lone Oak Road when her phone rang, causing her to be distracted and look down. By the time McGrew looked back up, police say traffic had slowed in front of her forcing her to make an abrupt stop.
Police say 17-year-old Tyhesia Mackins, of Paducah was driving southbound just behind McGrew, and was following her vehicle too closely. According to deputies, this also played a part in the crash.
McGrew was taken to Lourdes Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The Lone Oak Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Traffic was restricted to one lane for cleanup and removal of the vehicles.
