The Murray State Racers ended their football season with their first victory, knocking off the Indiana State Sycamores 31-17 in Terre Haute on Saturday.

The Racers (1-11) won for the first time this season in the Missouri Valley, and avoided a winless season by snapping a losing streak of 25 road games, getting their first win since the final game of the 2021 season at Eastern Illinois. MSU hadn't won in any case since beating Mississippi Valley at home early in the 2024 season and that 20-game skid is also over.

The game saw more than 1,000 yards of total offense between the two squads: 560 for the Racers, and 481 for Indiana State.

The Racers were led by a career-high 232 yards rushing by Jawaun Northington, the fifth-best rushing game in MSU history. Northington becomes the 20th Racer to rush for 200 yards in a single game, and the first since 2011.

Baxter Wright threw for 253 yards (22-of-30) with one touchdown. Darius Cannon caught nine passes for 110 yards.

The Racers had 10 big plays today, defined as gains on offense of 15 yards or more. The biggest pass play for the Racers was a 33-yard pass to JK Carter with nine minutes left in the game.

On defense, Dylan Rowsey had nine tackles and finished the season with 139, good for No. 8 on the MSU career list. MSU freshman Josh Murphy also had a career-high nine tackles.
