The Murray State Racers late-game rally came up short Sunday 70-60 to the Belmont Bruins at the Curb Event Center in Nashville.
Nick Ellington led the Racers with a 19-point performance on 5-of-10 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. JaCobi Wood added 12 points and seven assists. AJ Ferguson grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Having a poor first half when they shot just 31 percent (9-of-29), the Racers trailed the Bruins in the regular season finale 41-22.
The Racers (15-16) finish 9-11 in their third season in the Missouri Valley Conference and now wait for their first round assignment at Arch Madness as the MVC Tournament is played annually in St. Louis.
