Patton taking helm of Tilghman girls program

Josiah Patton has been tapped to lead the Paducah Tilghman Girls Basketball program.

Patton comes to Tilghman from Mayfield High School, where he spent four years as an assistant coach and the junior varsity head coach. While with the Cardinals, Patton helped lead them to a pair of district championships, a regional runner-up, and an appearance in the All-A State Tournament.  

Paducah Tilghman Athletics Director David Dobbins said, “We are excited to have Coach Patton join Paducah Tilghman High School as he leads our girls basketball program. As the head girls basketball coach, we are confident that his knowledge, passion, and strong work ethic will lead our girls to success."

Patton hails from Hopkinsville. As a player, he led his Hopkinsville Tigers to three regional titles before playing at the college level. He got his start in coaching at the AAU level in Hopkinsville.

Both basketball programs at Tilghman will look different this season. On the girls' side,  Patton replaces Howard Dillard, Jr, who departed for Mayfield after one season. Football Head Coach Sean Thompson will lead the boys’ program on an interim basis following the resignation of David Davis.
