Lyon County High School to add volleyball this fall

Lyon County High School will have a new sport beginning this fall.

The Lyon County Board of  Education announced Monday volleyball will begin play this fall.  The Lady Lyons will become the 14th team in the 2nd region.  It's the first time the school has offered the sport.

The Lady Lyons will open the season hosting Union County August 17th.  Other matches of note include those with Paducah Tilghman, Graves County and Caldwell County.  The Lady Lyons will compete in the 5th District with Trigg County, Crittenden County and Livingston Central.

In addition, Lyon County will be the 8th school to play in the 2nd Region All A Tournament.  Athletic director Jeremy Tackett said the search is underway for a head coach.
