Six western Kentucky high schools are still alive into round 2 of the Kentucky high school football playoffs as they resume on Friday night:

Class 2A
Caldwell County (5-6) at Mayfield (8-2)
This is a rematch of an October 4th regular season meeting between the Tigers and Cardinals in which Mayfield won 47-14. In that game Mayfield passed for 284 yards and ran for 204 yards, while holding Caldwell County to 148 yards passing and 87 yards rushing. On the season the Cardinals average 193 yards a game passing and 174 yards rushing, the Tigers average 187 yards a game passing and 109 yards rushing.

Murray (8-3) at Owensboro Catholic (11-0)
It's the first meeting of the season for the Tigers and Aces. Murray is averaging 218 yards passing a game and running for 146 yards a game. Meanwhile for the Aces, the top ranked team in Class 2A, 302 yards a game passing and rush for 158 yards. The Aces have thrown 46 passing touchdowns and ran for 24. The Tigers have thrown 23 touchdown passes and ran for 24.

Class 4A
John Hardin (9-2) at Paducah Tilghman (11-0)
A clash of offensive styles will meet Friday as the Bulldogs heavy rush attack meets the air raid of the Blue Tornado. John Hardin averages just 61 yards a game in the air with only eight passing touchdowns for the season. However, they run for an average of 401  yards a game with 54 rushing touchdowns. Contrast that with Tilghman who averages just 133 yards a game on the ground with 22 rushing touchdowns, but throws for 332 yards a game with 52 passing touchdowns. Tilghman is averaging 50 points a game, the Bulldogs average 41.

Class 5A
Graves County (9-2) at South Warren (10-1)
The Eagles travel to Bowling Green for a second year in a row in the second round. Last season the trip took them to Bowling Green High School, where their season ended with a 51-3 loss. This year, they will face a South Warren team that beat Bowling Green in the regular season. The Eagles' balanced attack has them averaging 160 yards in the air with 158 yards a game on the ground. Graves County has 21 passing touchdowns and 22 rushing touchdowns on the season. They also lead Class 5A with a school record 23 interceptions on the season. The Spartans average 210 yards passing a game with 33 passing touchdowns and 119 yards a game on the ground with 22 rushing touchdowns.

Class 6A
Central Hardin (3-8) at McCracken County (6-5)
The Mustangs cruised to victory in the first round of the playoffs with a 41-12 win over a three-win  Warren Central squad. McCracken will face another three-win team this week when the Bruins come to town. Two offenses with very different philosophies as the Bruins are a run-heavy team averaging 195 yards a game on the ground with 18 rushing touchdowns to just 44 yards a game passing and two passing touchdowns. McCracken County averages 244 yards a game through the air with 39 passing touchdowns, they run for 157 yards a game and have 17 rushing touchdowns on the season.
