The Murray State Racers took a run at the first-place Drake Bulldogs Tuesday, but fell short in a 55-45 loss at the CFSB Center.
The Bulldogs got their revenge from January's loss to the Racers in Des Moines, 66-59.
In a low-scoring affair, Nick Ellington and Kylen Milton led the Racers with 10 points each.
Trailing 32-18 at the intermission, the Racers trailed by 19 points (43-24) with 11:52 remaining, but built an 18-8 run over the next 8:30.
MSU's rally was keyed by back-to-back 3-pointers from Ferguson and six straight free throws from Milton to get the Racers to a 51-43 deficit with 2:59 left. But that's as close as the Racers could get.
The unranked Bulldogs are 21-2, and 11-2 atop the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Racers (11-13) are 5-8 in the conference as they hit the road Saturday for a game at Valparasio at 3 p.m.
