Murray State dropped a 103-86 loss Saturday night to the league-leading Belmont Bruins at the Curb Event Center in Nashville.
With their fourth straight loss, the Racers (16-7) fell to 8-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference, behind the 10-2 Bruins (20-3).
Fred King scored 22 points and Romon Doman added 17 points, while Brayden Shorter and Javon Jackson each added 12.
Despite trailing 22-4 nearly eight minutes into the game, the Racers made a run late in the period. Trailing 51-30 with just over two minutes remaining, Murray State closed on a 10-3 run, which featured interior scores from King and Jackson and 3-pointer from Doman to cut Belmont's lead to 54-40 at halftime.
One minute into the second half, the Racers got it down to a 13-point margin, but never got any closer.
The Racers have a busy week ahead with three games in seven days, starting with UIC visiting Murray on Tuesday. MSU plays at Southern Illinois Friday night, and come back home against UNI on Monday, Feb. 9.
