Clark resigns as McCracken County football coach

McCracken County head football coach Marc Clark has announced his resignation from his position at McCracken County High School. Clark will be accepting a head coaching job at a school that will be announced later this week.

Clark took over the head coaching job at McCracken in 2017, replacing Shawn Jackson. In five seasons with the Mustangs, Clark finished with a 32-25 record and four Class 6A District 1 championships.

"This decision was not taken lightly and there were many sleepless nights for our family leading up to today," Clark said. "This was an opportunity that our family could not pass on and while we are excited about the future it still does not make today any easier."

Clark mentioned many things he enjoyed about McCracken County, including the support from the McCracken County Administration and the McCracken County fan base overall.

"I have had the opportunity to work with two of the best bosses in Mr. (Matt) Houser and Coach (Geno) Miller," Clark said. "I am extremely grateful for the co-workers that I have worked alongside.  The game day environment at McCracken County and the community support is second to none."

McCracken County Activities Director Geno Miller had nothing but praise for Clark. "We here at McCracken County are grateful for the job Coach Clark did with our football program," Miller said. "His every day pursuit and dedication for putting a quality product together was very evident and he will be missed."

As for Clark's replacement, Miller stated that the search for a coach will start very soon. "Our administrative team will begin the search process immediately to bring in the best candidate for the McCracken County football program," Miller said.
